Just before 2 pm today, Syracuse University’s campus experienced a little bit of shaking, leaving everyone questioning, “Did you feel that? Was that an earthquake?”
The shaking, that lasted less than 4 seconds, was indeed an earthquake. It started near the Ontario-Quebec border in Canada as a magnitude 5.0 earthquake. The shaking was felt as far as Vermont and Michigan, and Syracuse (more than 150 miles away from the epicenter). The effects in Syracuse were minimal, simply disrupting the workday as everyone paused to wonder what had just happened.
