Starting Tuesday, it will officially be two months to the wedding; I can’t believe it! Just having the bachelorette party and bridal shower last weekend was crazy, and brought the looming date back to reality. It’s been tough to stick to healthy eating habits while going out to eat and celebrating at the bridal shower and bachelorette party—and being home, even for a weekend, can result in indulging in delicious home-cooked food. After some thought, I realized that this trick can help from consuming way too many unhealthy calories of penne a la vodka at the restaurant or fried chicken at home: just start off with a salad! If you eat a bowl of salad before lunch or dinner (or both) you won’t be as hungry for the other food that’s being served, and you’ll eat less of it.
Also, if you’re home and not able to get to a gym, I learned that using your downtime to do anything active can help. Having a younger sister has made me participate in countless hours playing the Wii, and this past Christmas she got the game Just Dance 2. For those unfamiliar with the game, you just, well, dance. According to how well you keep up with the moves and the sensor, the game can track how many calories you burned per song. What’s more fun than staying in shape by dancing?
Staying in shape without a gym takes a little dedication and creativity, and keeping healthy habits in check can be delicious. On this track, I should be wedding-ready in no time. See you all next week.
